DAY 16 - Review of the first Days & Cusco
November 29, 2011, 00:29
(4330 km for Doc. S)
As I have a Hostal with Internet tonight a update of the last couple of days is possible.
With my two Brazilian Bikers it was very nice but sometimes busy and no time for leisure. But in the evening when I was ready for the bed they wanted to go out. So today in Urubamba we decided to drive different routes and I could relax a bit more.
The conclusion of the first thousands of kilometers is following:
If your navigation system in Europe tells you "TURN LEFT IN 110 Meters" in South america is would be "TURN LEFT IN 110 Kilometers"
The distances with the bike are huge. Sometimes totally boring - Especially the PanAm close to Peru on the other hand the routes are absolute unbelievable and you wish to stop every 2 km to take a pic.
The food focuses on chicken but is so far for my stomach acceptable.
The people are extremely friendly to Bikers and sometime Bikers to not fit in their rules. For example they have no price for Toll Roads for Bikes so they do not charge you!!!
Funny also how in some areas they try to squeeze money out of you. The Boomers (www.boomer.de) told me that the Bolivian government has a new rule that the fuel for tourist is double the price. My Brazilian friends told me that is a way how the get double the price - there is not such a rule.
Anyway we stayed the last two nights in Puno and first afternoon we did the Uros - see DAY 15 - and yesterday we did the Bolivian site COPACAPANA and Isla de Sol.
Over all the Bolivian part was nice but they charge you for everything. Guide 25 Bolivas. See the Sanctuary 10 Bolivas. Get the Boat back to the Bus in time - free of charge
NEXT PICTURE ESPECIALLY for Michel alias Sascha Hehn ;-)
P.S.: While eating a Alpaca steak tonight i found my new favorite song - a cover of the famous Eagles song "Hotel California" played on the syrinx - NOW I REALY FEEL ARRIVED.

If somebody has the Idea to bring it as a gift - it will be the end of our friendship!
