DAY 25 - Putre to the National Park
December 7, 2011, 20:42
Isn’t this the best scenic view...

...for a flat tire! :-(
I arrived yesterday in Putre. A nice little village on 3500m altitude as the last civilisation before the famous national park. Today i decided to do a tour without luggage through the national park. I was about to leave then i got the feeling “take the tire repair set with you”. So i did and roughly 35 km later I realized that this was a good idea. On the altitude of 4444m i realized a “KLOCK” and lost pressure right away. I stopped in the middle of a road rebuild area and there it was...

...a cut maybe 3cm long. My first feeling that this will be tough to fix with the repair set was right. After i put the rubber piece into the hole it looked good. After a had 1.8 bar in the tire - which took roughly half an hour of pumping - the air came out again. So i used the last rubber piece i had and tried to fix the hole. After another half an hour of pumping i decided to stop one of the trucks and ask if the have a hose to fill the tire with their break system. The second truck was able to help so we filled the tire. Unluckily the air came out again. So i tried to get as far as possible even if the air was leaking. It worked till roughly 13km from my hostal. Then i had 1.2 bar in the tire. I stopped at a truck and he was also able to help. I got back to the Hostal were all my tool are. I had another repair set with me and up till now the tire looks okay. Lets see if he could handle the air till tomorrow.
Putre is a small little village with three restaurants and hundreds of street worker. They work for 20 days and then they go home for ten days. So it is a rush in the morning and the evening when they start or end the work. The rest of the day the village is not really busy.
